When to order

The single most common mistake in Diwali gifting is starting in October. Every supplier, printer and courier in India is at capacity in the four weeks before the date. Ordering early is not caution — it is the difference between getting what you chose and getting what is left.

If you orderWhat to expectRisk
By 20 SeptemberFull choice of products, unhurried sampling, time to change your mind after seeing the sample.Low
By 5 OctoberStill workable for a standard order. Sample approval needs to be quick and artwork must be ready.Moderate
Mid OctoberReady-stock items only. Branding options narrow, rush charges likely.High
After 25 OctoberWe will usually decline rather than promise a date we cannot hold. Not advisable

Lead time counts from sample approval and receipt of final artwork, not from your first enquiry. Budget roughly a week for sampling on top of the two to three weeks of production.

Budgets

Three bands that actually work

Per head, excluding GST. These are the ranges most Indian companies land on — useful for getting internal approval before you have a quote.

₹300 – 600

Employee-wide

Large distribution across the whole company. One good branded item plus something edible.

  • Sweet or dry fruit box
  • One branded item — bottle, diary or mug
  • Printed greeting card
  • Kraft box with ribbon
Typical qty 200–2,000
₹800 – 1,500

Considered gift

Mid-tier client gifting, or employees where the gift is meant to be noticed rather than counted.

  • Three or four items in a custom rigid box
  • Steel or copper bottle, diary, pen set
  • Premium dry fruits or artisan chocolate
  • Branded box, insert card, ribbon
Typical qty 100–500
₹2,000 +

Senior client gifting

Small quantities where the recipient list is named and the gift represents the relationship.

  • Brass or copper drinkware
  • Leather-bound diary, premium pen
  • Curated dry fruit and chocolate selection
  • Rigid magnetic box, personalised card
Typical qty 25–150

What goes in

Building the hamper

Hampers are assembled, not bought off a shelf — which means the mix is yours to decide. A workable hamper usually has one useful item, one edible, and packaging that holds them properly.

Useful item

The thing that stays on a desk after the sweets are gone, and the part that carries your branding.

Bottles · flasks · diaries · pens · mugs · desk organisers

Something edible

Dry fruits, artisan chocolate, traditional sweets. Check shelf life against your delivery window.

Dry fruits · chocolate · mithai · tea and coffee

Diyas and festive touches

Brass or terracotta diyas, candles, a small idol. Modest additions that make it read as Diwali rather than generic gifting.

Brass diya · scented candle · rangoli stencil

Packaging

The part buyers underestimate. A good product in a flimsy box lands badly — and a rigid box with an insert costs less than replacing complaints.

Rigid box · kraft box · jute bag · insert card

Eco options

Plantable seed diaries and pencils, jute bags, bamboo drinkware, kraft packaging instead of plastic inserts.

Seed paper · jute · bamboo · recycled kraft

Your branding

Logo on the item, the box, or both. Screen print for volume, engraving on steel, foil or deboss on diaries.

Print · engrave · emboss · foil

Questions

Diwali gifting, answered

When should we order Diwali corporate gifts for 2026?

Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. Place your order by 20 September for a comfortable run. Early October is the last safe date for a standard order with branding. After mid-October, expect limited stock, rush charges and real delivery risk — the whole industry is capacity-constrained in the four weeks before Diwali.

What is a good budget per head?

Three bands work in practice. Around ₹300–600 per head suits large employee-wide distribution: a sweet box with one branded item such as a bottle or diary. ₹800–1,500 suits a considered employee or mid-tier client gift: a hamper with three or four items in a custom box. ₹2,000 and above suits senior client gifting: brass or copper drinkware, premium dry fruits, or a leather-bound set.

Are Diwali gifts to employees taxable in India?

Under Indian income tax rules, gifts in kind from an employer are generally exempt as a perquisite up to ₹5,000 per employee per financial year; value above that is taxable in the employee's hands. Cash and cash-equivalent vouchers are treated differently. We are not tax advisers — confirm the current position with your finance team or a chartered accountant before finalising, as thresholds and interpretations change.

Can hampers be delivered to employees' homes?

Yes. We pack individually with name labels and address slips and ship across India. Home delivery needs the address list roughly ten days before the date you want them to land, and metro pin codes usually arrive two to three days faster than remote ones.

Do you supply eco-friendly Diwali gifts?

Yes — plantable seed diaries and pencils, jute and cotton bags, bamboo drinkware, brass and copper items, and kraft or recycled packaging instead of plastic inserts. Say so in the brief and we will quote the sustainable version alongside the standard one so you can compare cost directly.

Can we mix budgets across recipient groups?

Yes, and most companies do. A common structure is one hamper for the whole team, a second tier for managers, and a small named list for clients. We quote each tier separately so you can see where the money goes and adjust before committing.
